Take Two
I tried to make this site six years ago. It was an attempt to write more frequently, to allow myself the freedom of expression in an anonymous environment. As you can tell, that didn't go very well. I wrote a couple of posts and then let the website die. So here we are, six years later, trying again.
You might ask yourself, what's different this time? Unfortunately, nothing. Nothing has changed. Odds are nothing will change. But nothing ever changes unless we try. So here I am trying. Trying to share my point of view on random things. Trying to get over the perfectionism that keeps me from putting my work out into the public eye.
I'm under no illusion that anyone will ever read this. And yet, the fact that someone might read it is enough to stop me from shipping it. It doesn't feel scary. I don't feel anxiety right now about writing this. I don't even feel anxiety about publishing it. But without forcing myself to publish today, it will never happen. There's a block there in the form of me wanting to iterate on projects until they're good enough. And then they never reach that ever-moving bar and fade into nothingness. So even if no one ever reads this, the act of writing and publishing it makes it worthwhile because it's a practice in getting over myself. It's a practice in facing something hard for me.
Anyway, if you're here, thank you for being here. And if this is the last time you ever read something that I write, that's okay. I appreciate you stopping by. And if any of this feels relatable, go ship something. Not next month, not tomorrow, today.
